Living Room is an independent project space located in Kypseli, Athens. It was created by Auðunn Kvaran, and is currently managed by Auðunn and Nikoletta Georgakopoulou.
Living Room focuses on providing artists with a place to both realise and exhibit their works. We want to help artists through every step of the creative process, from realising the concept, to curating the works and to exhibit and publish them. We think of each artists visit as a small residency that ends with an exhibition. Our main focus is large scale multimedia installations, but we’re open for other mediums.
Living Room started in a living room in Victoria, Athens. It soon moved to a bigger space on Spetson 29 in Kypseli, where for 2 and a half years it hosted 20 exhibitions, featuring 24 artists from 13 countries. We’d like to think that Living Room can be a useful platform for international artists to showcase their works in Greece, thus expanding their network and looking outside of the art community of their home countries. Living Room emphasises on showcasing artists' first solo exhibitions or those having their inaugural solo shows outside of their home countries. By doing so, we aim to create a bridge between different artistic communities and offer a unique opportunity for artists to gain exposure and recognition.
In March 2025, Living Room moved to Marathonos 71 in Metaxourgeio, where it now houses an exhibition space and studios.
